I heard it said that during the peak of the boom, the palace grounds were worth more than the entire state of California, but of course, if they were anything other than the grounds of the palace, they wouldn’t be worth so much…

Jim, I too was told that was a common thing taught in Japanese schools at the time. Crazy.
