Hi Randall.
Depending on what part of Shizuoka you are in, it will take 1-1.5 hrs to Tokyo on the Shinkansen (bullet train) and it will cost around 5000Yen each way.
Sania Mirza is playing today (Friday) in the singles and doubles: schedule, so if she wins either, you would be able to see her over the weekend. She is at one set all in her singles match as I write this: scoreboard

The schedule for each day's play is not released until about 9pm of the day before. However, play usually starts at 10am. If you do go, there should be plenty of matches to see as the tournament has been delayed due to rain.

Here are Access details to the venue.
If coming on the Shinkansen, I would actually recommend getting off at Shinagawa station (one before Tokyo), taking the Yamanote line to Oimachi and then the Rinkai line to Kokusai Tenjijo, but that is up to you.

Good luck and have a great weekend, either way!

James

PS. I will be out of Tokyo for the weekend: otherwise I would join you there. I went on Wednesday night and might pop in again tonight.

I will be at a conference in Shizuoka this weekend.

I am a tennis fan however and am tempted to come to thAIG tournament. I lived in India 12 years and would enjoy seeing Sania Mirza play.

What would be the distance from Shizuoka and where in Tokyo is this tournament as far as trains go?

I have been trying without success to see the weekend schedule of matches. Any advice where these might be?

I am a novice at Japanese.

Thanks.
