2011, TV broadcasting will change from analog to degital completely.
I think Tokyo Tower lightup is the advertiseing of this.

So I guess they will take the tower down once we switch to digital, right?

I think I remember it being lit up in blue during the World Cup (to match the Japan team colors). And some other unusual colors at other times.
