Tokyo Inner Harbour

Tokyo Inner Harbour [1]
At the end of March a new part of the Tokyo Bay area was opened up, with 4 new stations on the Yurikamome line and roads and bridges connecting Ariake to Toyosu and Harumi.

Tokyo Inner Harbour [2] is an ambitious development of this new area near the centre of Tokyo. Built almost entirely on land reclaimed from the sea, building regulations (and the fall-out from the boom and bust) restricted significant construction. These rules were recently relaxed and more bridges, shopping centres and skyscrapers are in the pipeline.

The new bridges afford great views of Tokyo Bay, and are already popular with photographers, snapping pictures of the sun setting over the Tokyo skyline, Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge (pictured).
