Ueno Park

Ueno Park is one of Tokyos best places for watching the cherry blossoms. Tokyo Metrobloggers gathered and had some food and drink. This is the end of the financial year, and a lot of office workers are making a real effort to enjoy the brief time of the hanami (watching flowers).

Right. Except, of course everyone is not just looking at flowers, but hitting on each other’s girlfriends, trying to charm the new salesladies, and when all else fails: get seriously drunk. Lights were out at 8PM and it all supposedly closed at 11. Good thing - there is very little to do for the police. Tens of thousands of people are sitting under the trees, and mostly just having a good time. This photo shows about five or six idle police officers, at a koban, the police box in Ueno Park, wondering what to do with the one guy who is looking at the floor.

And very soon, the pretty pink blossoms will be no more…

    Good times!
It was great to get the Metrobloggers together. I remember most of it and my hang-over was pretty much gone by the following evening. Perfect!
