They are back! You smell them before you see them: Ganguro girls. Is anyone else seeing a ganguro resurgence in their neighborhood? I saw a horde of them at Fussa station this evening. It was scary.

We got new shower units in our complex! Thank you, Tokyo Government!

The only problem is, the water pressure is so low. But, hey, it is/was free. Guess I cannot complain.

Ozawa kun and Jun Itoda are podcasting here. I first saw these two on Enta No Kamisama. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard a single, “Amaaai” yet. I doubt I will. Anyway, two funny guys with a podcast. The iTunes link to the actual podcast.

To hell with LOHAS, give me my A/C. It was 31 degrees celsius indoors with the A/C full blast at work. I have no idea what the humidity was for yesterday, but I am going to go out on a limb and say, “High.” There is lots of good advice on staying cool and avoiding heat related illnesses and cessation of all bodily functions. Needless to say, I will not be following much of it today.

• Avoid alcoholic beverages, coffee and cola: Wine. Lots and lots of wine was consumed last night. Coco says, “tell everyone hangover is bad and it ruins your sunday.” Public Service Announcement: Hang overs suck and mess up your Sundays.
• Avoid going out in the blazing sun or heat when possible: Going out after I am done with this post.
• Wear a hat: Don’t own a hat.
• Avoid intense or moderately intense physical activity: Cycling to Tachikawa.
• Plan to go out early in the morning or evening when it is cooler and smog levels may not be as high as in the afternoon: 14:00 is probably not a good time to be cycling around.

Apparently, my laptop is ill and needs a bit of tender loving care. I leave you with links to one of my favorite shows CoCo Rico’s Miracle type (ココリコ ミラクル タイプ). It airs on Wednesday nights from 10 on Fuji TV. My favorite would have to be the　夢のない男, Ambitious, or Dreamless Man. This guy is great. He goes on these fast, long, uninterrupted monologues that sucks the joy from everyone’s life. Brilliance. How the actor memorizes these monologues is beyond me. Granted, there are times where they have 80 takes on one scene. Anyway, check out CoCo Rico’s Miracle Type next Wednesday night at 10 on Fuji TV.

Are there any Tokyo/Chiba area folks who want a little black kitten?

Yesterday during cleaning time some of my elementary school students found an abandoned kitten outside, near the school, in the rain. They brought the kitten in. It was very small, maybe one week old, and its eyes were dirty and crusted shut. I warmed up the kitten, cleaned it until it could see again, and fed the kitten with and eye dropper. Another teacher took the kitten to the vet last night. The vet says that it ishealthy and lucky. It is small, all black, and as of yet the sex is unknown.

I am taking care of the kitten tonight (regular bottle formula feedings and cleaning) but my apartment does not allow pets. No other teachers are in a position to adopt. School is out for the summer, and it’s easy to get kids to fall in love with kittens… but parents are another matter. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to care for the kitten, or how much I can get the other teachers to help.

Let’s find this little kitten a home.

Mother Nature put on a good show this afternoon: We had thunder, lightening, and hail. A true summer thunderstorm. A few people left their windows wide open this morning. We can all guess what happened there. Someone I know, who will remain nameless, got caught in an elevator for a few short seconds, “The lights started flickering as the elevator stopped between the 2nd and 3rd floor.”
