200601, or Chanchu, was born on 2006-05-09 at 12:00:00 UTC, miles away from Japan. Chanchu started life as a mere Category 2, but soon expanded into a Category 3. Currently, he is listed as a Category 4. They group up so fast these days.

Sunny and warm day, after 2 hours walking in a park, I found Sakura(cherry tree)

I’m back from snowboarding trip late last night. Half of our trip we had really sunny days.

This is called ‘Tsurara’ in Japanese, usually hanging from the edge of the roof. My friend picked this for me to take photo, but she held it upside down :)
I don’t know what is it called in other languages. Any idea ?

It was yesterday’s morning, I noticed spring is coming here. I think this is flower of plum.(梅の花)
I will be able to show you beautiful cherry blossoms about one month later :)

Anyone else have a problem with sweating windows? You know, this:

We wipe the windows down every morning with a rag. Do you know how a) annoying and b) time consuming that is? We do. My other-half found
this.

Snow in Tokyo!

I have been waiting all winter for this. The forecast is calling for snow all day long.

Yesterday the Mainichi Daily online carried a photo special on Japan’s whale-hunting program. Nearly 1000 minke whales are planned to be killed from January to April for “research purposes”. The meat will go on sale in restaurants across Tokyo.
Greenpeace are doing what they can to slow down the hunting and to bring attention to it: check out their BLOG for more details.

I wrote that the kanda-gawa is one of my favorite place, a few days ago.
Disgracefully, it was one of the symbol of the polluted river, before. It was filled of sludge.
So residents embarked on effort recovery from pollution since about 20 years ago.You can see some aquatic birds in this picture, it’s people’s effort conclusion. I think this’s one of the proud thing for us.
But I don’t want to swim in the river, and it smells in summer yet.We need to keep effort for a while. The other birds or the mammals may appear again.
I hope our efforts bear fruit more.
